This legendary hotel is the meeting place of the South Pacific. Rich in history founded in 1933 as the British Club, in the 1940's it became a renowned club, managed by Aggie Grey - allegedly the inspiration for James Michener's character Bloody Mary in Tales of the South Pacific - for American servicemen stationed in Samoa during World War II.
The drums that signal dinner each evening, the ripening bananas that overhang the verandahs and afternoon tea at Maggie's fale, typify the hotel's tradition of Samoan warmth and hospitality created by Aggie Grey.
